Youth Care & Roots

In October 2015, Raynier Institute & Foundation granted $200,000 for general operating expenses to YouthCare and ROOTS in Seattle, WA. In October 2014, Raynier also granted $275,000 to these organizations for general operating expenses. These grants were in addition to the significant multiyear commitments made to these organizations in 2010.

On February 10, 2010, the Raynier Institute & Foundation made the largest investment to date in the Puget Sound region in providing critical services to homeless youth and young adults. By expanding access to safe shelter and low-barrier transitional living programs in Seattle, we are breaking the cycle of chronic homelessness and helping young people move their lives forward as self-sufficient adults. Grants totaling $7,750,000 million were made to Seattle organizations YouthCare and ROOTS to support an innovative housing-and-service model for homeless youth and young adult, to create a new young adult shelter and to ensure both organizations’ ongoing operations. While the bulk of the funding was provided from 2010-2013, annual operating grants continue for both organizations through 2018.
